Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. This was one of the scenes shown to the audience at the D23 Expo last summer, but it looks even more beautiful, so it must have been worked on a bit more following the showing. Watch the 2 1/2 minute clip, called “The Prize,” in high resolution after the jump! On display are her impressively sick archery skills, which would put any one of us to shame.
The trailer, though, is essentially an extended clip from the film – a moment which sets the stage for Merida and her journey. As promised, early this morning, Disney/Pixar released a new Brave trailer exclusively through iTunes Movie Trailers.
